These are the two pieces I've put in the current member's show at CEPA Gallery running from February 4th through March 18th. The opening reception if Friday, February 4th from 5:30 - 9:00pm.

Both the pieces are examples of my latest work on a continuing project I've been exploring for the past few years. The images in the middle of the triptychs are black and white photographs I've taken of the landscape around the White House in Washington DC. In creating the photographs of Washington, I've used a variety of cameras from point and shoot 35s to medium format 67s. Some of the images are shot on high-speed infrared.

Initially, the idea behind the series was to document the securing the landscape. By using those images as the core of a triptych contrasting truth and fiction, it becomes an exploration of perception. It's an interesting feeling to know for a fact that one is outside the gates and being denied entry. Its human nature to want in and to feel disenfranchised when entry is denied. The desire to throw oneself on the palisades is strong.

*These pieces were awarded Juror's Selection, by juror Louis Grachos, Director, Albright-Knox Art Gallery
